The EDI Outage That Wasn't Their Customer's Fault

A tier-two automotive stamping supplier lost outbound EDI to a Tier-1 during a high-volume week. Missed shipment notifications were piling up. Their previous MSP said it was on the customer's side and told them to open a ticket with the Tier-1.

When they called us, we traced the problem in 45 minutes to their own outbound firewall rule that had been changed for an unrelated project two weeks earlier. The rule was blocking the specific port range the EDI VPN needed. Twenty minutes of change work and the feed was back.

No missed shipments. No chargebacks. No fingers pointed at a customer for something that wasn't their fault.

How fast can Wizcom respond if our line is down?

Do you support second and third shift operations?

Yes. On-call engineer coverage is written into every contract, matched to your shift pattern. Second and third shift line-down events are treated as production events, not next-business-day tickets. Coverage windows are stated in the service agreement so there are no arguments at 2 AM about what is included.

How long does IATF 16949 audit preparation take?

IT-side audit prep is typically four to six weeks from scratch: change-control documentation, access-log evidence, backup verification, configuration records. If you already have a managed IT engagement with us, most of that documentation exists as ongoing artifacts and prep collapses to about a week of confirming the record set.

We keep getting hit with OEM security addenda. Can Wizcom implement them?

Yes. Ford, GM, Stellantis, and Toyota each publish prescriptive security requirements that flow down through the tier-one chain. We implement the controls the addendum specifies (access management, encryption, incident response, patch cadence) and produce the documentation the customer's security team will accept.
