IT for Manufacturing

Detroit-built, factory-tested. IT services designed for shops where every minute of downtime has a dollar cost, and where PLCs, CAD workstations, and corporate laptops all have to work together without stepping on each other.

Manufacturing IT Is Different

Every hour a production line sits idle costs your business twice: units you didn't ship, and the overtime you'll pay to catch up. Your IT can't be an afterthought handled by whoever answers the phone first.

Wizcom has spent 40+ years supporting manufacturers across southeast Michigan. We know your PLCs need to talk to your ERP, that your CAD workstations are as critical as your web server, and that a ransomware event on the shop floor is a very different kind of emergency than one on a laptop.

Whether you're a 30-person tier-two supplier or a 300-person tier-one, the underlying problem is the same: you need IT that treats uptime as a business number, not a nice-to-have.

Built for Shop Floors

The specific work that matters when your business runs on machines that can't tolerate a bad Tuesday.

Uptime Engineering

Every switch, controller, and workstation under continuous monitoring. Failures caught and diagnosed before the shift lead notices anything is wrong.

OT / IT Bridge

PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems from Rockwell, Siemens, and Allen-Bradley integrated with corporate networks safely. Segmentation designed so a corporate-side breach can't take down production.

Legacy System Support

Windows XP running a CNC controller isn't going away tomorrow. We isolate legacy systems, keep them patched where possible, and document them for realistic eventual replacement.

Cybersecurity for Shop Floors

Manufacturers are increasingly ransomware targets. We harden the perimeter, segment production networks from corporate, and put incident response in writing before you need it.

ERP and CAD Support

SolidWorks, Autodesk, Epicor, Sage, Infor, and the rest. We understand the license models, the licensing servers, and what breaks when they go offline.

Quality System IT

Change management, audit trails, and document control that align with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and customer security addenda. When your quality auditor asks for evidence, it exists.

Frameworks You're Working Under

Manufacturers in Michigan typically operate under some combination of these. We don't sell compliance as a checkbox. We implement the technical controls that make your program actually work.

ISO 9001 / IATF 16949

Quality Management

Quality standards with IT requirements around change management, audit trails, and document control. We build the technical foundation your quality team relies on.

Customer Security Addenda

Enterprise Supplier Requirements

Larger customers increasingly attach prescriptive security requirements to purchase orders. We implement what's required and produce the documentation the customer's security team will actually accept.

ISA / IEC 62443

OT / ICS Security Guidance

Industrial control system security. Segmentation, access control, and hardening patterns aligned with the widely-accepted OT standard. Applies to any shop with connected PLCs, HMIs, or SCADA infrastructure.

The $180,000 Firewall That Wasn't Needed

A tier-one automotive supplier came to us after receiving a proposal from another IT vendor for a $180,000 firewall overhaul. Their existing firewall was flagged as inadequate for their expanded production environment.

When we looked at their setup, the firewall was properly spec'd. What had actually happened: their production network had expanded two years earlier, and nobody had updated the firewall's segmentation policy to reflect the new topology. Traffic that should have been blocked between shop floor and corporate was leaking through gaps that shouldn't have existed.

The fix was a three-day tuning engagement and about $8,000 in configuration work. They didn't need a new firewall. They needed someone who understood what their existing one was supposed to be doing.

That client is now in their eleventh year with us.

Questions Manufacturers Ask

Can Wizcom support our OT and PLC environment without breaking things?
Yes. Our senior technicians have been working with mixed OT and IT environments for 15+ years. We treat controller networks as separate from corporate networks, and we test changes in isolation before touching production. No cowboy changes on live equipment.
How do you handle customer security addenda from larger accounts?
We implement what the addendum requires and produce the documentation the customer's security team will ask for. Access control changes, encryption verification, incident-response evidence, and audit-log retention are handled as ongoing work, not scrambled through when the questionnaire arrives.
How fast can Wizcom get someone on-site?
Same-day response for critical issues within a 45-minute drive of Saint Clair Shores, which covers most of southeast Michigan. Outside that radius, we run full remote support (diagnostics, remediation, and vendor coordination) but we don't dispatch on-site technicians beyond that footprint.
We have a mix of new equipment and machines running Windows XP. Can Wizcom support both?
Yes, and this is common. Legacy equipment doesn't get retired on the vendor's schedule. We isolate legacy systems from the general network, keep them patched where possible, monitor them for compromise, and help plan realistic replacement timelines. We don't tell you to rip and replace working equipment just because it's old.
