Four Decades of Business Technology in Detroit

Howard Brubaker started Wizcom in 1983 with a clear mission: bring the power of statistical data processing to the organizations that needed it most. Over the four decades since, he has led the firm through every major shift in business technology, from mainframes and minicomputers to networked PCs, the internet, and the move to cloud services. Wizcom grew from that first data processing work into a full-service technology company covering managed IT, cloud, networking, communications, custom software, and consulting.

What has not changed is the way Howard wants the work done. Wizcom does not sell what a client does not need, does not lock clients into one-sided contracts, and does not hide behind jargon. That approach is a big part of why so many client relationships have lasted for decades, and it is the standard he still holds the team to today.

What Howard writes about

Howard writes for business owners and managers who have to make technology decisions without a full-time IT department. His articles focus on the money side of IT: what downtime actually costs per hour, how the cost of managed IT compares with hiring in-house staff, and how to tell when a growing company has outgrown the systems it started with. Each one is built around real numbers and the questions clients ask him most often.

“Howard, Wizcom's founder, is a visionary. He sees opportunities within larger trends.”
